Conquering international markets

The Monte Cristo brand embodies the exporting impulse that Cía. Vinícola del Sur experienced at the end of the 1970s. Albeit with previous international success, the major breakthrough came when the company increased its presence in the United Kingdom, where it sold more than 300,000 cases a year in the 1980s.

Ads on the BBC

The development of the Monte Cristo business in the United Kingdom grew to the extent of creating TV advertising campaigns. The ads of that time are short and quaint films starring the Count of Monte Cristo passionately fond of the brand's dry, pale cream, medium and cream wines.

Bodega Don Eduardo

The name of this winery in Montilla pays tribute to Edward Butler, British importer of wines who introduced and promoted the Monte Cristo brand in the United Kingdom in the 1980s.
